For two years, Carmen Strofer has been playing cupid to hundreds of extremely successful people from across the world while working with Ivy International, a UK-based matchmaking company that has offices across Europe, the US, and in Dubai. What has been her takeaway? Opposites most often don’t attract and you know a relationship will work within the first 30 seconds of meeting a person.</p>
<h5>What prompted you to take up this profession, Carmen?</h5>
<p>I always knew whatever profession I pursued would have to have a significant positive impact – not only in my life but hopefully in that of others. That strong desire to assist others in their paths to happiness lead me to both individual and family therapy, where most, if not all, of my educational background and professional experience lay, before arriving at Ivy International. When I came across Ivy and the field of matchmaking, I was incredibly fascinated. I guess I never considered that love, or lack thereof, would present itself as an area of concern or need for some, especially those who seem to have it all.</p>
<h5>How does it all start? What kind of people do you accept as clients?</h5>
<p>While all of our members are unique in their own way, they all share some common traits – they are highly successful in their respective fields, very well educated, worldly and financially independent. Our screening process begins with an initial phone call, where we answer any preliminary questions, and assess the level of interest, wishes and desires of the prospective client. We then carry out an in-person meeting and interview to properly assess the candidate and the real possibilities for success within Ivy.</p>
<p>Since we would never provide a membership without having met the individual first, this meeting is a vital start to our journey. This also gives the prospective client the opportunity to get to know the person who is going to be representing them. Once we are confident that we can be successful in finding your soulmate within our private network or beyond, we take you on as a client.</p>
<h5>I’m sure your expertise comes at a cost. Can you give us a figure?</h5>
<p>Our fees start from 15,000 euros [Dh68,600], excluding taxes, for a standard membership. Executive and Premium memberships are discussed after a personal meeting.</p>
<h5>In your experience, what are some of the common qualities people look for in their prospective soulmate?</h5>
<p>Typically, people look for someone with similar interests and life philosophies as them. Since most, if not all, of our members have very demanding professional lives, they like to make the most out of the limited downtime they have. So they prefer to be with someone who shares their interests and passions, and someone who shares the same views for the future and expectations of a relationship as they do, for example marriage, starting a family, travelling, etc.</p>
<h5>Why do you think these highly successful people are unsuccessful in finding love and seek your help?</h5>
<p>Time is so precious today, especially for those with demanding careers. They lack the time to actively look for a partner, one who not only understands their world but can be a part of it. There is also the risk of [connecting with] people who don’t have genuine intentions . Meeting people is one thing, meeting the right person is an entirely different challenge.</p>
<h5>With social media and apps offering a platform for people to find a match, how do you think the service you offer is better than these options?</h5>
<p>I don’t believe we could really compare the two. Our service not only differs in approach, but has a whole human side to it that a virtual platform cannot provide. Your matches aren’t being selected for you by software, but by a dedicated matchmaker who strives to understand you as a person, taking into account your experiences, lifestyle, goals and philosophy, to not only select someone she believes you will like, but with whom you can build a long-lasting relationship.</p>
<h5>What are the biggest challenges you face?</h5>
<p>Quite often clients are not sufficiently truthful about the elements they are looking for in a partner, or are truly attracted to. In such cases we often have to spend a lot of time digging deep enough to really understand a client and what floats their boat. We instigate our clients to be as blunt as possible so that we know how to make things work for them. Combining that with figuring out what a client really needs is quite the task. But we enjoy such challenges.</p>
<h5>What are some of the most common deal-breaker factors you have come across?</h5>
<p>The two biggest factors are the desire to start a family and location. Some people want children, some don’t. Some want them right now, some no sooner than five years from now. This can be a definitive deal-breaker for our clients. We also need to take care when introducing international profiles to make sure that at least one party is open to relocation. Religion and physical appearance are also important factors, though on a lesser scale.</p>
<h5>Was there ever a case of love-at-first-sight?</h5>
<p>Love at first sight seems like a matter of fiction, but it did happen for two people we worked with. Since we can’t reveal names, let’s call them Mr A and Ms C. C joined the agency a few years ago. In spite of turning two encounters into successful relationships, she felt both were not fulfilling enough so she continued her journey to find the right man.</p>
<p>Mr A had had a few unfortunate relationships, so was slightly sceptical to start his journey with Ivy. But once we introduced him to C, they hit it off almost instantly. In their first phone conversation itself, they realised that they were very compatible at cultural, social and intellectual levels, and it did not take too much convincing for Mr A to meet Ms C. They say that you know within 30 seconds whether you’ll like somebody or not, and in their case it didn’t even take that long. Soon the two were spending most of their free time together – and are still together.</p>

<p>That, if you will permit me to co-opt the celebrated advertising line from a certain Belgian lager, is pertinent in the case of another Belgian export: Inga Verbeeck, who arrives at Mere, the swish Fitzrovia restaurant opened by Monica Galetti (of Masterchef fame) and her husband David earlier this year, fresh from the airport with barely a blonde hair out of place.</p>
<p>Verbeeck is the founder of Ivy Relations, a matchmaker whose typical clients are worth £20 million, with offices in Antwerp, New York and Geneva. She’s in London to catch up with some of her UK clients, and as we scan the pleasingly minimalist Mere menus (‘Lamb’, ‘Octopus’ etc) she cuts to the chase. ‘We are a service provider that saves people time,’ she says, ‘and time is the only commodity you cannot buy. Most of people’s regrets when they’re about to die is how they spent it. So you might want to think about that.’</p>
<h5>&#8220;BECAUSE OF THE WHOLE FEMINIST MOVEMENT A LOT OF MEN ARE CONFUSED&#8221;</h5>
<p>I’m doing just that – from lamb to love to regret-tinged-death – as Verbeeck tells me that it’s harder than ever for single HNWs to meet the person of their dreams, thanks to the pressures of work and social fragmentations exacerbated by the internet. Next she drops the f-bomb: ‘Don’t misunderstand me, I’m an independent woman, but because of the whole feminist movement a lot of men are confused. They are not sure what women want.’</p>
<p>The good news is Verbeeck does: ‘I don’t know one single successful independent woman who doesn’t want their male partner to be respectful, but masculine and stronger,’ she declares. So where are the loneliest HNWs in the world? ‘Switzerland,’ she declares.</p>
<p>Since 2011 Ivy Relations has helped 300 couples tie the knot. Right now it has 900 ‘active members’ (out of a pool of 3,000) and has ambitions to get that up to 5,000, at which point the firm will be nearing £100 million turnover. She’d like to be at £50 million by 2022. ‘The fact of the matter is that it is a proper business – it’s a <em>real</em> business.’</p>
<p>A case in point is its campaign (as Ivy calls it) to find the life partner for an unnamed Middle Eastern billionaire. This involves an ad campaign with a spend of £500,000 and castings of up to 250 women in four worldwide locations. If this doesn’t help the UHNW in question find love, it’s hard to see what will.</p>

<p>But then it turns out that the rich make textbook errors when dating just like everyone else: ‘They forget to be gentlemen,’ Verbeeck says of the chaps. ‘They don’t open doors, they don’t pay – and it’s not a money thing, because [the female clients] have enough money. People [also] get stressed and end up talking about their exes.’</p>
<p>The good news is her outfit can help: ‘We have a 92 per cent success rate for male clients in the first year.’ And women? ‘Sixty-seven,’ she replies, ‘because the older clients above 58 take the average down and we have slightly more women clients than men.’ But it’s not only male age prejudice and the balance of the membership that she has to contend with. ‘Men are easier to work with than women,’ she confides. A statement which I will leave well alone.</p>
<p>The challenge is that men have an ego issue with matchmaking: they don’t want help. ‘Men are hunters and they<em> should</em> be,’ says Verbeeck. ‘I tell them, “We’re just putting you on selected ground – making sure that the game running around is of good quality. You are not wanting to go out to shoot a deer and coming home with a rabbit.”’ Too right. I dig into my squab pigeon.</p>
<p>Like many entrepreneurs, Verbeeck’s inspiration was first-hand: in her case, divorced at 29, she turned to a matchmaker. Now happily settled, she is dedicated to bringing happiness to the world: ‘I think that if we can bring more happiness to people – especially to high-net-worth individuals who are influential that have power – then hopefully we can make a difference. Because honestly the world is a fucked-up place.’ She laughs, ‘I call it trickle-down love-onomics.’ Now there’s a thought.</p>

<h2>Opvallende campagne</h2>
<p>Met de toch wel wat vreemde matchmakingcampagne ‘Venus, waar ben je?’ hoopt Ivy International de aandacht te trekken om vrouwelijke kandidaten te werven die beantwoorden aan het profiel van ‘een onafhankelijke en intelligente Rubensvrouw vol optimisme en levenslust’.<br />
De zoekende mannelijke opdrachtgever in kwestie rekent op de medewerkers van Ivy om een levenspartner te zoeken waarmee hij een kwaliteitsvolle, langdurige relatie kan opbouwen. De dertiger gaat daarmee in tegen het pad dat voor hem gekozen werd: een gearrangeerd huwelijk. De zoektocht naar ‘zijn toekomstige Venus’ vindt plaats in vier Europese landen: Oekraïne, Roemenië, Tsjechië en België. Aanvankelijk was de man van plan om zijn zoektocht enkel in Oost-Europa te houden vanwege ‘zijn diepe waardering voor de rijke geschiedenis en warme cultuur’. “Toen hij kennismaakte met de medewerkers van Ivy International en hun multiculturele en nuchtere aanpak was hij zo gecharmeerd dat hij besliste om België ook aan het lijstje toe te voegen”, zegt Inga Verbeeck.</p>
<p>In het verleden organiseerde Ivy reeds meerdere eerder discrete matchmakingcampagnes zoals ‘Search for Apollo’ of ‘Search for Silver Foxes’ maar deze internationale ‘Search for Venus’ marketingcampagne is de eerste in zijn soort.</p>

A hledá ji v rámci Evropy, tedy i u nás. Udělali jsme rozhovor s majitelkou seznamky, která dostala tohle sousto na starosti, a zjišťovali pikantnosti a jaké jsou trendy v oboru dohazování.</p>

Jeho </span><span class="s1"><b>Venuše by měla být nezávislá, chytrá žena „Rubensovských“ plných tvarů.  </b>Ale…Krásek přece po Evropě běhá. A chytrých, vnadných tvarů,…s dostatečným obnosem na kontě to přece není žádný problém! Nebo ano?</span></p>
<p class="p1"><em><span class="s1">“Naši klienti představují špičky ve svých oborech; ať už jsou to talentovaní nebo i zkušení podnikatelé, jsou každopádně velmi úspěšní ve svém oboru. Často nemají moc času a chtějí efektivně a profesionálně přistupovat i k hledání životního partnera,” </span></em><span class="s1">vysvětluje Inga Verbeeck, zakladatelka a CEO Ivy International.</span></p>

<h2>Kdo je záhadný milionář</h2>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Tenhle konkrétní muž je ve skutečnosti ve velmi obtížné pozici. Proč? Těžko by se setkal s typem ženy, se kterou chce strávit svůj život. Je od něj velmi odvážné, že nedělá to, co se od něj očekává: tedy dohodnuté manželství. <em>“Kontaktoval nás, abychom mu pomohli. A my mu pomůžeme se v tom velkém světě zorientovat. Chce dostat šanci setkat se s dámami, které by jinak nemohl<span class="Apple-converted-space">  </span>potkat – ať už kvůli jeho životnímu stylu, místu, kde žije nebo práci.”</em></span></p>
<h2 class="p1"><span class="s1">Proč normální randění nestačí?</span></h2>
<p class="p1"><em><span class="s1">“Buďme upřímní; kolik z nás tráví čas zbytečnými schůzkami, kolik z nás má problémy najít toho správného partnera? Jak dlouho trvá většina vztahů a jak vysoká je v této době rozvodovost? Hledání správného partnera je těžké zaměstnání – a to pro každého. Šťastné zdravé vztahy jsou vzácné a my povzbudíme každého, kdo chce ke svému osobnímu životu přistoupit aktivně.”</span></em></p>
<h2 class="p1"><span class="s1">Jaká jsou jeho očekávání?</span></h2>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Dlouhodobá láska závisí víc než na štěstí na jiskře. A existuje hodně hmatatelných okolností, které vedou k šťastnému a úspěšnému vztahu. Náš klient jednoduše doufá, že mu pomůžeme najít ženu rychleji a náš pečlivý výběr dá vztahu větší šanci na úspěch z dlouhodobého hlediska.</span></p>
<h2 class="p1"><span class="s1">Jakou svou Venuši hledá?</span></h2>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Klient hledá moderní Venuši, která opravdu vyzařuje ctnosti a vlastnosti bohyně. Hledá nezávislou, chytrou, pragmatickou a pozitivní ženu, která je zvyklá se pohybovat v mezinárodním prostředí.</span></p>
<h2 class="p1"><span class="s1">Co on a jeho pohled na cizinky?</span></h2>
<p class="p1"><em><span class="s1">“Proč by měl mít strach ze vztahu s cizinkou? Naše společnost je mezinárodní agentura a mezinárodní vztahy jsou v naší DNA. Proč se omezovat na rodné město nebo dokonce na rodnou zemi, když je svět tak velký a nabízí tolik příležitostí? A kulturní rozdíly mohou být příležitostí pro výzvu, nebo naopak zajímavé a inspirativní vztahy. Všechno záleží na individuálních zkušenostech a životní filozofii. Naopak náš klient je „mezinárodnímu“ vztahu velmi otevřený a moc se na něj těší!”</span></em></p>
<h2 class="p1"><span class="s1">Co se teď bude dít? Jak budou probíhat námluvy? Nebo spíš dohazování?</span></h2>
<p class="p1"><em><span class="s1">“Proces „dohazování“ se skládá z několika pečlivě navržených kroků. V první fázi si se všemi kandidátkami promluvíme a vyfotíme je. Každá potenciální Venuše se setká s naším týmem  (což jsou mimochodem všechno ženy).</span></em></p>
<p class="p1"><em><span class="s1">Během čtyř týdnů od prvního setkání pak budou všechny ženy informovány, zda postupují do druhého kola. Tím je podrobný rozhovor, kde už ženy vyplní také dotazník a podepíšeme smlouvu, která zajistí soukromí oběma stranám za všech okolností. Na základě těchto rozhovorů sestavíme a předložíme klientovi krátký seznam.”</span></em></p>
<h2>Pak bude rande…?</h2>
<p class="p1"><em><span class="s1">“Teprve v této fázi a pouze v tom případě, že obě strany stále souhlasí s osobním setkáním, si vymění osobní údaje a dohodneme datum prvního rande. “</span></em></p>
<h2 class="p1"><span class="s1">Kolik žen je přihlášených na konkurz?</span></h2>
<p class="p1"><em><span class="s1">“Zatím máme více než 100 přihlášených. Byl to čerstvý vítr, byla to příjemné setkání, zajímavé ženy – od neuro-vědkyň, doktorandky na genetice až po úspěšné umělkyně. A jsme zvědaví, kolik Češek bude mít odvahu do toho jít. My v agentuře český národ a mentalitu českých žen milujeme, takže doufáme, že zájem bude velký.”</span></em></p>
<h2 class="p1"><span class="s1">Jaké ženy se na takovou akci přihlásí? Co třeba zlatokopky, mají u vás otevřené dveře?</span></h2>
<p class="p1"><em><span class="s1">“Je naší povinností “vyfiltrovat” dámy, které se o klienta ucházejí ze “špatných” důvodů. Ale naštěstí máme zatím skvělou zkušenost a ženy zatím skutečně zajímá hlavně láska.”</span></em></p>
<h2 class="p1"><span class="s1">Proč vlastně u vás pracují pouze ženy?</span></h2>
<p class="p1"><em><span class="s1">“Tuhle otázku miluju! Zdá se, že ženy se tak nějak k našemu oboru víc hodí, a i když hledáme nového kolegu, většina odpovědí chodí od žen. Rádi bychom diverzifikovali náš tým a přijali mezi nás nějaké muže, protože by bylo hezké zaprvé vidět, jak budou fungovat v našem oboru, a zadruhé, jak by se jejich pohled na věc lišil od nás žen v týmu. Pokud se mezi čtenáři někdo takový najde, jen ať se přihlásí!”</span></em></p>
<h2 class="p1"><span class="s1">Kolik toho o tom chlapíkovi ženy vědí?</span></h2>
<p class="p1"><span class="s1">Identita klienta a jeho (potenciální) partnerky zůstane anonymní. Klienti se spoléhají na naši diskrétnost a nejvyšší úroveň profesionality. Samozřejmě, jak výběr pokročí, budeme s Venušemi více mluvit o tom, jaký klient je, protože je to obousměrné. Nejen klient, ale i dáma se musí těšit na to, že klienta konečně osobně potká.</span></p>
<h2 class="p1"><span class="s1">Bude na konci závěrečný boj?</span></h2>
<p class="p1"><em><span class="s1">“Samozřejmě že ne! V posledním výběrovém kole uvedeme dámy jednu po druhé. A po první schůzce vyhodnotíme jejich vzájemné pocity a zvážíme, zda má smysl pokračovat. A když první pár nezafunguje, oslovíme druhou dívku v pořadí. A pokračujeme, dokud nenajdeme tu správnou.”</span></em></p>
<h2 class="p1"><span class="s1">Proč ta veřejná kampaň? Je to nový trend?</span></h2>
<p class="p1"><em><span class="s1">“Jsme experti na organizaci diskrétních vyhledávacích kampaní, jako je “Hledání Apolla” a “Hledání stříbrných lišek” (v obou případech jsme hledali mužské kandidáty) a “Call for Grace” (to šlo o ženu). Kampaň “Hledá se Venuše” je první veřejná kampaňsvého druhu. Všechno se to odvíjí od přání a potřeb každého jednotlivého klienta.”</span></em></p>
<h2 class="p1"><span class="s1">Jaká je vaše úspěšnost? Najde ji?</span></h2>
<p class="p1"><em><span class="s1">“Dosahujeme v průměru 75% úspěšnosti.”</span></em></p>
<h2 class="p1"><span class="s1">Jaký je mezi klienty poměr žen/mužů?</span></h2>
<p class="p1"><em><span class="s1">“Oproti tomu, co čekáte, máme více klientek, téměř 60 %! A to je také důvod, proč máme 92% úspěšnost u našich mužských klientů. Pořád se snažíme povzbuzovat muže, aby se nestyděli a naše služby využili. Nemělo by to být takové tabu, nikdo by neměl být odsuzován za to, že se chce aktivně postavit ke svému životu. Řekla bych, že to musí být silný sebejistý muž, který za námi sám přijde kvůli svému milostnému životu.”</span></em></p>
<h2 class="p1"><span class="s1">Jak dlouho trvá takové hledání správné osoby?</span></h2>
<p class="p1"><em><span class="s1">“V průměru to trvá 6 až 10 měsíců.”</span></em></p>
<h2 class="p1"><span class="s1">Narážíte na nějaké „divné požadavky“? Existují ve vašem oboru nějaké etické hranice?</span></h2>
<p class="p1"><em><span class="s1">“V naší profesi jsme otevření, nekonfliktní, nikoho nesoudíme. Dostáváme všechny druhy žádostí a každý člověk funguje jinak. A jestli máme etické hranice? Samozřejmě, že ano. Všechno, co děláme, činíme s ohledem na přání každého jednotlivého člověka. Také to musí být skutečné. Nemůžeme věci zařídit tak, aby se to stalo. Vytváříme pro naše klienty příležitosti a je na nich – na obou – zda je využijí. Můžeme být chápavé a poskytnout i mentora – ale zbytek je na nich.”</span></em></p>
<h2 class="p1"><span class="s1">Jaké jsou moderní trendy ve světě dohazování?</span></h2>
<p class="p1"><em><span class="s1">“Nejvíce si všímám toho, že se lidé začínají stěhovat z on-line aplikací a digitálních řešení zpátky do normálního světa. Týká se to zejména mladších lidí. Konečně si uvědomujeme, že digitální svět je pro mnoho věcí skvělý – ale ne pro péči o náš osobní život. Naše sociální dovednosti se za poslední desetiletí nezlepšily, právě naopak. Naučme se, jak se někomu podívat do očí, najděme odvahu k němu přistoupit a říci mu, že se nám líbí. Nechme muže, aby se znovu naučili dvořit a svádět!”</span></em></p>

<p>Acesta a apelat la o agenţie matrimonială pentru a găsi fata perfectă pentru el. Campania se numeşte „În căutarea lui Venus” şi se desfăşoară în patru ţări din Europa, respectiv în Ucraina, România, Cehia şi Belgia, potrivit searchforvenus.com.</p>
<p>Tânărul caută o femeie cu vârsta cuprinsă „între 21 şi 30 de ani, independentă, sofisticată, inteligentă, cu rotunjimi, care să fie pozitivă şi să se simtă confortabil într-un mediu internaţional”. De asemenea, bărbatul îşi doreşte o femeie cu forme rubensiene.</p>

<p>Un bărbat de 30 de ani, chipeş, cu puternice valori de familie, după cum se autocaracterizează, născut şi crescut în Orientul Mijlociu, dar educat în Statele Unite ale Americii, a pus la cale o adevărată campanie pentru a-şi găsi jumătatea, scrie Gândul.</p>
<p>Acesta a apelat la o agenţie matrimonială pentru a găsi fata perfectă pentru el. Campania se numeşte „În căutarea lui Venus” şi se desfăşoară în patru ţări din Europa, respectiv în Ucraina, România, Cehia şi Belgia, potrivit searchforvenus.com.</p>
<p>Tânărul caută o femeie cu vârsta cuprinsă<strong> „între 21 şi 30 de ani, independentă, sofisticată, inteligentă, cu rotunjimi, care să fie pozitivă şi să se simtă confortabil într-un mediu internaţional”.</strong> De asemenea, bărbatul îşi doreşte o femeie cu forme rubensiene.</p>

<p>Would Mr. Cornell ever hire an executive with marijuana company experience? “I’d probably think long and hard about it,” the Target leader replies.</p>

But a senior manager’s stint at a pot grower, vendor of intimacy aids or personal matchmaking service could become a résumé black mark unless the role delivers highly valued expertise, executive recruiters and leadership coaches say.</p>
<p>“There will be career consequences from going to an offbeat company,” warns Jane S. Howze, a managing director for The Alexander Group, an executive-search firm. “Recruiters and employers will look at your impact there and whether you previously worked for a more conventional business.”</p>

<p>“It has been challenging hiring C-suite talent,” says Derek Peterson, chief executive of publicly held <a href="http://quotes.wsj.com/TRTC">Terra Tech</a> <span class="company-name-type">Corp.</span> , which grows and sells marijuana for legal medical use in several states. He cautions management prospects that banks may close their accounts or reject mortgage applications because marijuana violates U.S. law.</p>
<p>“The people you end up with as executives are people truly willing to take a risk,” Mr. Peterson observes.</p>
<p>Mike James says he worried about the possibility of harming his career before he left his top management role at a nutritional-supplements firm to join Terra Tech’s predecessor in 2010. So, he kept working for his old employer during four years as the part-time chief financial officer of his new employer.</p>
<p>Thirty states and Washington, D.C., have legalized marijuana for at least medicinal use, but the U.S. government still considers it an illegal and dangerous drug. U.S. sales of legal marijuana should reach $19 billion by 2021, up from $5.9 billion last year, predicts Arcview Group, a marijuana investment and research firm.</p>

<p>Mr. James, now Terra Tech’s full-time CFO, thinks most conventional companies would employ him in the future. But “I will not be applying for a job at Target,” he vows.</p>
<p>During their next job search, executives of an offbeat company should tout their transferable skills such as a record of innovation, career advisers suggest. “It is absolutely about the leader’s personal brand, not the industry’s brand,” says Elaine Varelas, managing partner at Keystone Partners, a career transition and leadership-development firm.</p>

<p>This approach succeeded several years ago when a female executive left Playboy Enterprises Inc., famous for nude photos. She says she emphasized her team-building skills at the well-known entertainment business. “Find that positive spin,” she recommends.</p>
<p>The executive soon got hired by a professional-services firm. “They thought it was really cool that I had worked for Playboy,” she recalls.</p>
<p>Chris Postler also hesitated to join an edgy business. Nearly four years ago, Pure Romance LLC wooed the bank financial analyst for a middle-management position. The Cincinnati firm uses a predominantly female independent sales force to sell “relationship enhancement products” for women.</p>

He turned down Pure Romance’s offer four times.</p>
<p>Mr. Postler changed his mind after Chief Executive Chris Cicchinelli promised that he might become second-in-command someday. Mr. Cicchinelli says he believed at the time that Mr. Postler “could help us set strategy and execute.”</p>
<p>Recruited by Pure Romance in 2014, Mr. Postler landed his first executive post the following year. But he didn’t lose his unease about its products “until way into my employment,” he says. He was named chief operating officer in January.</p>
<p>Pure Romance has grown so fast—with 2016 sales climbing 24% to $203 million—that mainstream businesses now court Mr. Postler for senior operational spots. “Because their growth stagnated, they are looking for that growth magic from a new executive,” he says.  He has no plans to quit Pure Romance.</p>
<p>At Ivy International SA, a matchmaking concern, men’s fears about career damage have crimped its efforts to recruit one for the management team. Ivy clients pay as much as €250,000 ($279,825) for its personalized dating services.</p>
<p>Many male applicants consider Ivy a frivolous business whose stigma would discourage conventional future employers from taking them seriously, says Inga Verbeeck, CEO of the Belgium-based firm, which she founded in 2012. Her first male executive finally arrived in June.</p>
